Connecting your domain to Wix or Squarespace Print

Connecting your Nixzoehost domain to Wix or Squarespace is a great way to use our reliable domain management with your favorite website builder. Both platforms allow you to connect via a method called "Pointing" (DNS Connect), which keeps your domain and email settings at Nixzoehost while your website loads from their servers.

Connecting to Wix

Wix requires two primary records to point your domain to their platform.

Step 1: Add the domain in Wix

1. Log in to your Wix Dashboard.

2. Go to Settings > Domains and click Add an Existing Domain.

3. Choose Connect a domain you already own.

4. Follow the prompts until Wix provides you with a set of DNS records (an A Record and a CNAME).

Step 2: Update DNS at Nixzoehost

1. Log in to your Nixzoehost Client Area.

2. Go to Domains > My Domains > Manage > Advanced DNS.

3. A Record: Edit the record for @ and point it to: 185.230.63.107

4. CNAME Record: Edit the www record and point it to: pointing.wixdns.net

Connecting to Squarespace

Squarespace uses a unique verification code to ensure you own the domain, along with several A records for reliability.

Step 1: Start the connection in Squarespace

1. Log in to your Squarespace site and go to Settings > Domains.

2. Click Use a Domain I Own and enter your domain name.

3. Select Connect Domain.

4. Squarespace will show a DNS Settings panel with a list of "Required Data."

Step 2: Update DNS at Nixzoehost

You will need to add several records in your Advanced DNS tab:

1. Verification CNAME: Squarespace provides a unique short code (e.g., abc123xyz).

   • Host: [Your Unique Code]

   • Points to: verify.squarespace.com

2. WWW CNAME: * Host: www

   • Points to: ext-cust.squarespace.com

3. A Records: Add four separate A records for the @ host pointing to these IP addresses:

   • 198.185.159.144

   • 198.185.159.145

   • 198.199.109.141

   • 198.199.110.142

Important Notes for Both Platforms

• Delete Conflicting Records: If you have any other A or CNAME records for @ or www that point elsewhere, you must delete them to avoid a conflict.

• Keep your MX Records: Do not delete your MX records if you have email service with Nixzoehost. Changing the website records won't break your email as long as the MX records stay untouched.

• SSL Activation: Once connected, it can take up to 48 hours for Wix or Squarespace to issue your security certificate. Your site might show a "Not Secure" warning until this process is complete.
