.UK Transfer Process Print

Unlike most global domains (like .com), .UK domains (including .co.uk, .org.uk, and .me.uk) do not use EPP/Authorization codes. Instead, they use a system called IPS Tags.

To move your UK domain to Nixzoehost, you must "push" it from your current registrar by changing its tag.

How to Transfer a .UK Domain to Nixzoehost

The transfer process for UK domains is generally faster than other extensions, often completing within minutes once the tag is changed.

Step 1: Initiate the Transfer at Nixzoehost

1. Go to the Nixzoehost Domain Transfer page.

2. Enter your .uk domain and add it to your cart.

3. Complete the checkout.

   • Note: Most .UK transfers are free and do not automatically add a year to the registration unless the domain is near expiry.

Step 2: Change the IPS Tag

You must now tell your current registrar to hand over control of the domain to us.

1. Log in to your current domain providers control panel.

2. Locate the "Transfer Out" or "IPS Tag" section for your domain.

3. Change the IPS Tag to: [INSERT_TAG_HERE] (e.g., STACK or ENOM).

   • Check your Nixzoehost welcome email or contact support to confirm our current IPS Tag.

Step 3: Confirmation

Once the tag is changed at your old registrar, the UK registry (Nominet) automatically moves the domain to our system.

• Instant Move: In most cases, the domain will appear in your Nixzoehost account within a few minutes to an hour.

• No Email Approval: Unlike .com transfers, you typically do not need to click a confirmation link in an email.

Important .UK Transfer Rules

• The 60-Day Rule does NOT apply: Unlike .com domains, you can transfer a .uk domain even if it was registered less than 60 days ago.

• Expired Domains: You can still transfer a .uk domain if it has expired, as long as it is still within the "Renewal Grace Period" (usually up to 30 days after expiry).

• Nominet Control: If your current registrar is being difficult or you cannot access their panel, you can pay a small fee directly to Nominet (the UK registry) to have them manually change the IPS Tag for you.

Common Troubleshooting

• "Tag not recognized": Ensure there are no spaces before or after the IPS Tag when you type it in.

• Domain is Locked: Some registrars still require you to "Unlock" the domain before they allow a tag change.

• Pending Transfer: If you changed the tag but don't see the domain in your dashboard yet, wait 24 hours. If it's still missing, open a ticket with our billing team.
