How to Renew Your Domain Name

Domains are leased, not owned forever. If you fail to renew your domain before its expiration date, your website will go offline, and eventually, the domain could be purchased by someone else.

Option 1: Manual Renewal

If you prefer to review your services before paying, you can renew manually at any time:

  1. Log in to your Nixzoehost Client Area.

  2. Navigate to Domains > My Domains.

  3. Locate the domain you wish to renew and click the Status or the three-dot menu icon.

  4. Select Renew from the options.

  5. Choose the number of years you want to add to your registration (110 years).

  6. Complete the checkout process. Your new expiration date will be updated instantly.

Option 2: Enabling Auto-Renewal (Recommended)

To prevent accidental expiration, we highly recommend turning on Auto-Renewal.

  1. In the My Domains section of your dashboard, look for the Auto-Renew column.

  2. Ensure the toggle is set to ON (Green).

  3. Our system will automatically generate an invoice 1530 days before the domain expires and charge your saved payment method.

The Domain Expiration Timeline

It is helpful to understand what happens if a renewal is missed:

  1. Expiry Date: If not renewed, your website and email stop working immediately.

  2. Grace Period (030 days after expiry): Most domains (like .com) can still be renewed at the regular price during this window.

  3. Redemption Period (3070 days after expiry): The domain is held by the registry. Renewing now requires a Redemption Fee, which is significantly higher than the standard renewal price.

  4. Pending Delete: The domain is about to be released back to the public. It can no longer be renewed by you.

Important Tips

  • Keep your email updated: All renewal reminders are sent to the email address on your Nixzoehost account. Ensure it is an address you check regularly.

  • Multi-year renewals: You can renew most domains for up to 10 years at once. This protects you against future price increases from the registry.

  • WHOIS Privacy: Don't forget that your Privacy Protection service usually renews alongside your domain to keep your personal data hidden.
