How to Setup Email on iPhone & Android
Accessing your NixZoeHost email on your mobile device is easy. For the best experience, we recommend using the IMAP protocol, which keeps your emails synchronized across your phone, computer, and webmail.
Common Server Settings
You will need these details for both iOS and Android:
-
Username: Your full email address (e.g.,
info@yourdomain.com). -
Password: Your email account password.
-
Incoming Server (IMAP):
mail.yourdomain.com| Port: 993 (SSL/TLS) -
Outgoing Server (SMTP):
mail.yourdomain.com| Port: 465 (SSL/TLS) or 587 (STARTTLS)
Option 1: Setup for iPhone (iOS)
-
Open Settings > Apps > Mail.
-
Tap Mail Accounts > Add Account > Other.
-
Tap Add Mail Account and enter your Name, Email, and Password.
-
Select IMAP at the top.
-
Enter the Incoming and Outgoing server details (Note: Even if it says "Optional," you must enter your username and password for the Outgoing server).
-
Tap Next to verify. If asked to "Connect without SSL," choose No (you want SSL active).
-
Tap Save.
Option 2: Setup for Android (Gmail App)
Most Android users use the Gmail app to manage external accounts.
-
Open the Gmail app.
-
Tap your profile picture (top right) and select Add another account.
-
Choose Other and enter your full email address.
-
Select Personal (IMAP).
-
Enter your password.
-
Incoming Server Settings: Change the server to
mail.yourdomain.com. Ensure the Security type is SSL/TLS (Port 993). -
Outgoing Server Settings: Change the SMTP server to
mail.yourdomain.com. Ensure "Require sign-in" is checked. Use Port 465 with SSL/TLS. -
Tap Next and choose your sync frequency.
Troubleshooting Tips
-
"Cannot Verify Server Identity": This is common if your SSL certificate is new. You can safely click "Continue" or "Trust."
-
Login Failed: Ensure your Username is the entire email address.
-
Not Sending Mail: Double-check your Outgoing (SMTP) settings. Many mobile networks block Port 25, so ensure you are using Port 465 or 587.
Pro Tip: If you want your folders (Sent, Trash, Drafts) to match exactly on your phone and webmail, check the "IMAP Path Prefix" in your advanced settings and set it to
INBOX(all caps).
