MySQL Database Optimization

A slow database is the #1 cause of a sluggish website. Over time, databases collect "overhead"fragments of data left behind by deleted plugins or old post revisions.

How to Optimize via phpMyAdmin:

  1. Open phpMyAdmin from your dashboard.

  2. Select your database from the left-hand list.

  3. Scroll to the bottom and click Check All.

  4. In the "With selected" dropdown menu, choose Optimize table.

  5. The Result: The system defragments your tables, often reducing the size of your database and speeding up query response times instantly.
