How do I enable Dynamic DNS for a domain?
Dynamic DNS (DDNS) is a powerful feature that allows your domain to point to a home or office IP address that changes frequently. Updates are nearly immediate, ensuring your connection stays live.
Note: This feature is available only for domains pointed to our BasicDNS, PremiumDNS, or FreeDNS nameservers.
To enable Dynamic DNS for your domain, follow the instructions below:
1. Access Your Domain List
Sign in to your NixZoeHost Account. Once logged in, navigate to the Domain List menu in the left sidebar or choose Dashboard > Domain List.
2. Manage Your Domain
Locate the domain name you wish to use for Dynamic DNS and click the Manage button on the far right.
3. Navigate to Advanced DNS
Click on the Advanced DNS tab at the top of the management page. Scroll down until you find the Dynamic DNS section.
4. Toggle the Feature On
Look for the Status toggle button within the Dynamic DNS section. Click the toggle to enable the feature.
5. Retrieve Your Dynamic DNS Password
Once enabled, a Dynamic DNS Password will be generated. To view this password, mouse over the "i" icon or the obscured text next to "Dynamic DNS Password."
Important: Keep this password secure. You will need it to configure your DDNS client or router. This is different from your NixZoeHost account password.
Whats Next?
Now that the feature is enabled, you need to:
-
Create a Record: Add an A + Dynamic DNS Record in your host records section above.
-
Configure Your Device: Enter your domain name and this password into your router or DDNS software.
Thats it! Your domain is now ready to receive automatic IP updates.
