Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is your account's strongest defense. However, if you lose your phone, upgrade your device without transferring your app, or accidentally delete your authenticator, you may find yourself locked out.
Option 1: Use Your Emergency Backup Codes
When you first enabled 2FA (via Google Authenticator, Authy, or TOTP), Nixzoehost provided a list of Emergency Backup Codes.
-
On the 2FA login screen where it asks for your 6-digit code, look for a link that says "Enter Backup Code."
-
Input one of your 10-digit backup codes.
-
Once logged in, go to Security Settings immediately to disable the old 2FA and set it up on your new device.
Option 2: Contacting Support for Manual 2FA Removal
If you did not save your backup codes, a member of the Nixzoehost Security Team must manually disable 2FA for you. Because this is a high-security request, we require strict proof of ownership.
To request a manual reset:
-
Email support@nixzoehost.com or use our web ticket system.
-
Include your Full Name, Account Email, and Account PIN (if you set one).
-
Required Documentation: You may be asked to provide a photo of a government-issued ID (Passport or Driver's License) next to a handwritten note with today's date.
-
Why so strict? We do this to ensure a hacker cannot simply "ask" to have your 2FA removed to steal your site.
-
Recovery Comparison Table
| Method | Best For... | Typical Time |
| Password Reset Link | You know your email but forgot the password. | 2 Minutes |
| 2FA Backup Codes | You lost your phone but saved your codes. | 1 Minute |
| Manual Verification | You lost access to email OR 2FA device. | 112 Hours |
Nixzoehost Pro-Tip: To avoid ever needing a manual reset, we highly recommend using a 2FA app like Authy, which allows for encrypted cloud backups of your 2FA tokens. This way, if you get a new phone, you simply log into the app and all your codes are already there!
