How do I start using Dynamic DNS?

The Dynamic DNS feature is available for all domains pointed to our BasicDNS, PremiumDNS, or FreeDNS nameservers. Follow these four steps to connect your dynamic IP to your domain.

1. Enable Dynamic DNS for your Domain

First, you must activate the service within your account:

  1. Log in to your NixZoeHost Dashboard.

  2. Go to Domains > My Domains and select Manage for the domain you wish to use.

  3. On the left sidebar, click on Dynamic DNS.

  4. Toggle the status to Enabled.

  5. You will see a Dynamic DNS Passwordcopy this and keep it safe, as you will need it for your client software.

2. Create an A + Dynamic DNS Record

Now, you need to tell our system which "hostname" should be updated automatically:

  1. Navigate to the Advanced DNS tab.

  2. Click Add New Record.

  3. Choose A + Dynamic DNS Record from the dropdown menu.

  4. For the Host, enter @ (if you want your main domain like example.com to update) or a subdomain like home (for https://www.google.com/search?q=home.example.com).

  5. Enter any temporary IP address (e.g., 127.0.0.1). This will be replaced automatically once your client starts running.

3. Set Up a Dynamic DNS Client

To keep the IP updated, you need a "client" (software) that tells NixZoeHost when your IP changes. You have two options:

  • Download a Client: Use a universal tool like DDNS Updater or DirectUpdate.

  • Router Configuration: Most modern routers (and firmware like DD-WRT) have a built-in DDNS section where you can enter your NixZoeHost details.

4. Enter Your Configuration Details

In your chosen client or router, enter the following:

  • Service/Provider: NixZoeHost (or Custom/User-defined)

  • Username: Your domain name (e.g., [suspicious link removed])

  • Password: The Dynamic DNS Password you copied in Step 1.

  • Hostname: The host you created (e.g., @ or home).

Important Notes

  • Update via Browser: If you don't want to install software, you can also update your IP manually by visiting a specific URL in your browser.

  • IPv4 Only: Currently, our Dynamic DNS supports IPv4 addresses (A records) only. IPv6 is not supported at this time.

Thats it! Your domain is now synced with your dynamic connection.
