What is Dynamic DNS?
The Dynamic DNS (DDNS) feature is an automated service available for all domains using our BasicDNS, PremiumDNS, or FreeDNS nameservers.
To make a website or a server available in a browser, your domain must be pointed to a specific IP address. However, most home or office internet connections (DSL, Fiber, or Cable) do not have a Static IP. Instead, your internet provider changes your IP address every few days or every time your router restarts.
Manually updating your DNS records every time your IP changes is tedious and causes downtime.
Dynamic DNS solves this problem. It is a feature that allows you to point your domain to a dynamic IP. It automatically detects when your IP address changes and updates your records instantly, ensuring your domain remains connected to your server without any manual work.
A Practical Example
Imagine you have a private server at home to host a website, a gaming server, or a security camera system. Since your home IP changes frequently, visitors would lose access as soon as your connection resets. By setting up Dynamic DNS for your NixZoeHost domain, your home server "talks" to our system and says, "Hey, my address just changed to [New IP]please update my domain!"
Thats it! Your connection stays seamless.
