Managed WordPress: Platform Software Versions
At Nixzoehost, we believe that speed and security start with the right foundation. Our Managed WordPress environment is built on a high-performance stack that is constantly updated to the latest stable versions.
Unlike standard hosting, we proactively upgrade our server-side software to ensure your site benefits from the latest performance optimizations and security patches.
Our Current Software Stack (April 2026)
| Component | Version | Status |
| WordPress Core | 6.9.x | Latest Stable |
| PHP | 8.4 / 8.5 | Recommended for 2026 |
| Web Server | LiteSpeed Enterprise | High-Performance |
| Database | MariaDB 10.11+ | Optimized for WP |
| HTTP Protocol | HTTP/3 (QUIC) | Enabled by Default |
Why These Versions Matter
1. PHP 8.5: The Performance King
As of late 2025/early 2026, PHP 8.5 is our default recommended version. It offers significant speed improvements over the older 8.1 or 8.2 branches.
-
Efficiency: PHP 8.5 can handle up to 30% more requests per second than previous versions, which means your site stays fast even during traffic spikes.
-
Security: Using an actively supported PHP version ensures that any newly discovered vulnerabilities are patched at the server level immediately.
2. LiteSpeed Enterprise Web Server
Instead of the traditional Apache or Nginx, we use LiteSpeed.
-
LiteSpeed Cache (LSCache): This is a server-level cache that talks directly to your WordPress site. It is the fastest way to serve pages, as it skips the slow "database lookup" process entirely.
-
QUIC & HTTP/3: We support the newest web protocols, which allow for faster delivery of images and scripts, especially on mobile networks.
3. MariaDB (Optimized MySQL Alternative)
We use MariaDB because it is specifically designed to handle the types of "queries" that WordPress makes. This results in faster loading for your dashboard and search results on your site.
How to Check Your Specific Site's Version
If you want to see exactly what your specific site is running, you can find this information in two places:
-
Managed WordPress Dashboard: In your cPanel > WordPress Management, look at the Tools section. It will display your current PHP version (e.g., 8.3.30 or 8.5.x).
-
WordPress Site Health: Inside your WordPress admin dashboard, go to Tools > Site Health > Info. Under the "Server" and "Database" tabs, you will see the full technical breakdown.
A Note on "Legacy" Versions
We understand that some older plugins may not be compatible with the newest PHP versions.
-
While we encourage PHP 8.5, we still provide a PHP Selector in cPanel.
-
This allows you to manually drop back to PHP 8.2 or 8.3 if you have an older plugin that isn't quite ready for the latest tech.
Nixzoehost Promise: Our team monitors the WordPress ecosystem daily. When WordPress 7.0 or PHP 8.6 is released and proven stable, we will begin the transition process to keep your site at the cutting edge.
