How to Enable Premium DNS for Your Domain

Purchasing the Premium DNS addon is the first step, but to actually benefit from the global speed and 100% uptime, you must enable it by pointing your domain's traffic to our premium nodes.

Follow these steps to activate the service and verify that your domain is running on the Nixzoehost Anycast network.

Step 1: Retrieve Your Premium Nameservers

Unlike standard hosting nameservers, Premium DNS uses a specific set of addresses optimized for global performance.

  1. Log in to your Nixzoehost Client Area.

  2. Go to Services > My Services.

  3. Click on your Premium DNS subscription.

  4. In the "Product Details" area, you will see your assigned nameservers. They generally look like this:

    • pdns1.nixzoehost.com

    • pdns2.nixzoehost.com

Step 2: Update Your Nameservers

This is the "activation" step. You must tell the internet to look for your websites "address" on our premium servers.

If your domain is with Nixzoehost:

  1. In the Client Area, go to Domains > My Domains.

  2. Click Manage next to your domain.

  3. Click Nameservers in the left sidebar.

  4. Select "Use custom nameservers" and enter the pdns addresses from Step 1.

  5. Click Change Nameservers.

If your domain is elsewhere (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.):

  1. Log in to your external registrars control panel.

  2. Find the DNS Management or Nameservers section.

  3. Replace their default nameservers with pdns1.nixzoehost.com and pdns2.nixzoehost.com.

Step 3: Configure Your DNS Zone

Once you change nameservers, our network becomes the "source of truth" for your domain. You must ensure your records are active in our dashboard so your site doesn't go offline.

  1. In the Nixzoehost Client Area, go to Services > Premium DNS.

  2. Click Manage (the gear icon) for your domain.

  3. Use the "Import Records" button to automatically pull your current settings from your old provider.

  4. Review the list to ensure your A Record (Website IP) and MX Records (Email) are correct.

Step 4: Verify Propagation

DNS changes do not happen instantly. It takes time for internet service providers (ISPs) around the world to update their "map" to your new premium location.

  • Propagation Time: Usually 1 to 4 hours, though it can take up to 24 hours globally.

  • How to Check: Use a tool like whatsmydns.net. Enter your domain and select "NS" (Nameservers). If you see pdns1.nixzoehost.com across the globe, your Premium DNS is successfully enabled!
