How do I reissue an SSL certificate with the plugin?

The Nixzoehost SSL Plugin (often labeled as Namecheap SSL in your cPanel) makes reissuing a certificate far simpler than the manual method. Instead of you having to generate a CSR, copy-paste codes, and manage files, the plugin handles the technical "heavy lifting" automatically.

Here is how to trigger a reissue directly from your cPanel dashboard.

Step 1: Access the Plugin

  1. Log in to your cPanel.

  2. Navigate to the Exclusive for Nixzoehost (or Software) section.

  3. Click on the Nixzoehost SSL icon.

  4. If prompted, click Sign in with Nixzoehost to sync your certificates.

Step 2: Locate Your Certificate

The plugin organizes certificates into two main tabs. Depending on your situation, look in one of these:

  • Installed via "Nixzoehost SSL": Use this tab if the certificate was originally installed using the plugin.

  • Ready for Installation: Use this tab if your SSL was activated outside the plugin (e.g., via the Nixzoehost website) but is not yet installed on this specific server.

Step 3: Trigger the Reissue

Option A: For certificates already installed via the plugin

  1. Click the Installed via "Nixzoehost SSL" tab.

  2. Find your domain and click the green Active button.

  3. A menu will appear; select Reinstall.

  4. Confirm the Domain: Choose the domain (or a new one if you are changing it) and click Reinstall.

  5. The plugin will automatically generate a new CSR and Private Key, then submit the request to the Certificate Authority.

Option B: For certificates issued outside the plugin

  1. Click the Ready for Installation tab.

  2. Find your SSL and click the Install button.

  3. Even if the certificate was already "issued," clicking Install through the plugin triggers an automated reissue to ensure the Private Key matches your current server.

Step 4: Completion & Validation

After you click Reinstall/Install:

  • Wait for Issuance: The system usually takes 1525 minutes to validate and issue the new certificate.

  • Automatic Installation: Once issued, the plugin will automatically install the new files on your server. You don't need to download or upload anything.

  • Admin Details: The plugin will use your Nixzoehost account email for the administrative contact by default.

Why use the plugin for reissuance?

  • Automated Private Key Management: You don't have to worry about losing your Private Key; the plugin generates it and stores it in the correct server directory for you.

  • One-Step Validation: In many cases, the plugin can handle the domain validation (DCV) automatically by placing a temporary file on your server, saving you from clicking confirmation emails.

  • Error Prevention: It ensures that the certificate, CA Bundle, and Private Key are perfectly synchronized, which is where most manual reissues fail.
