What products does our SSL cPanel plugin support?

The Nixzoehost SSL Plugin (which you may see labeled as Namecheap SSL in your cPanel dashboard) is designed to streamline the management of our most popular security products. While it is a powerful tool, it is optimized for specific certificate types to ensure the highest success rate for automated installations.

As of 2026, here is the breakdown of the products supported by the plugin:

1. Supported Certificate Types

The plugin is primarily built to handle Domain Validated (DV) certificates, as these can be verified and installed without manual paperwork.

  • PositiveSSL (Most Popular): Fully supported. This includes the "1-year free" promotional certificate bundled with our Stellar hosting plans.

  • EssentialSSL: Fully supported. Ideal for those who need a slightly higher level of trust than the basic PositiveSSL.

  • InstantSSL & PremiumSSL: These Organization Validated (OV) certificates are supported for management, but since they require business document verification, the "one-click" speed is limited by the time it takes the CA to verify your company.

2. Supported Hosting Plans

To use the plugin, you must be hosted on one of our cPanel-based platforms:

  • Shared Hosting: All Stellar, Stellar Plus, and Stellar Business plans.

  • Reseller Hosting: Supported on all modern Nixzoehost Reseller accounts.

  • VPS/Dedicated (with cPanel): Supported if you have a cPanel license active on your server.

Feature Supported? Description
One-Click Install Yes Automatically generates CSR and installs CRT for DV certificates.
Auto-Renewal Yes Keeps track of your expiration dates and prompts for renewal.
Reissuance Yes Allows you to "re-key" your SSL if you change domains or lose your key.
Multi-Domain (SAN) Partial You can view them, but complex SAN additions are often better handled in the Client Area.
Wildcard SSL No Because Wildcard SSLs often require manual DNS record placement for subdomains, they are best managed through our SSL/TLS Status tool in cPanel rather than the plugin.

What is NOT Supported?

  • External SSLs: The plugin cannot manage certificates purchased from other providers (like GoDaddy, DigiCert, or Lets Encrypt). For those, you must use the standard cPanel > SSL/TLS manager.

  • Extended Validation (EV): While you can view EV certificates in the plugin, the strict verification process (which involves phone calls and legal checks) cannot be automated through a plugin.

  • Legacy Browsers: The plugin installs modern ECC or RSA 2048-bit keys. If you require specialized legacy encryption, manual installation is required.

The "AutoSSL" Difference

It is important to remember that the Nixzoehost SSL Plugin is for managing Paid/Premium certificates. Our Free AutoSSL (powered by Sectigo/Let's Encrypt) runs independently of this plugin and is managed via the cPanel > SSL/TLS Status icon.
